In the coming years, CAS plans:
- to run workshops on different, relevant topics, such as language hegemony in Arctic research, in collaboration with partners and in connection to international conferences, workshops, and symposia.
- to organize joint teaching and supervision activities, such as lectures, courses and roundtables, to support education, and to build a sense of community among scholars at different stages of their careers.
- to develop joint publication activities, research projects, and applications based on participants’ interests to further develop Critical Arctic Studies.
Plans for CAS activities in 2025 include:
- finalizing a book based on the Critical Arctic Studies symposium presentations in autumn 2023. The working title of the book is “More-than-human Entanglements in the Arctic”.
- organizing an online research clinic in February/March for doctoral candidates but it is open to anyone interested.
- organizing webinar activities in late spring/early summer. Two teams of CAS partners will develop the content of the webinars.
- organizing the Critical Arctic Studies symposium in late September/early October in Rovaniemi, Finland. The working theme of the symposium is “Politics, economies and care of life in the Arctic”.
- continuing to develop student and staff research visits among the CAS partner institutes.
