Art/Place webinars
Art/Place is a webinar series exploring how artists and/or arts-based practitioners engage with Arctic places through diverse creative practices and perspectives. The series, developed for the UArctic Thematic Network on Critical Arctic Studies (CAS), will be co-hosted by Dina Brode-Roger and Dorothee Bohn. Each one-hour session will bring together three artists/practitioners whose work is in, with, or about, a specific Arctic location.
The series kicked off on 4 June 2025 with three artists working in/with/about Svalbard. Future webinars will focus on Northern Finland, Greenland, and/or other Arctic places. Each webinar will feature brief presentations from the artists/practitioners, followed by a moderated conversation that draws out the complexities of place-based practice in the Arctic. By combining voices and perspectives of those who live in, move through, or work with these regions from outside of the region, Art/Place aims to foster a dynamic, transdisciplinary dialogue that considers the multiple ways people relate to and work with place in their practice(s).
